The affordable, high-quality, high-performance fi-4640S scanner lets your organisation incorporate the benefits of image capture on a broader scale. Flexible paper-handling capability conveniently accommodates a wide variety of documents, from small receipts to large financial reports. The single CCD camera array uses 1024 level internal greyscale to deliver superior image detail. The scanner offers standard image processing, including error diffusion, dynamic thresholding and image emphasis. These ensure high quality from document to document, automatically adapting to the quality of the original.
Higher performance for increased productivity
The fi-4640S scanner offers scanning throughput in portrait mode of up to 45 letter-size pages per minute (ppm). The fi-4640S features a maximum output resolution of 800 dpi to capture the fine details of graphics and photos, while sophisticated dithering and diffusion algorithms deliver superior halftone rendering.
100 page Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) with continuous feed
For the ultimate in flexibility, the document feeder supports paper sizes as small as 2.1" x 2.9" and as large as 11.7" x 17". The 100 page ADF can be continuously fed without stopping the scan process to maximise efficiency.

Fuijtsu's revolutionary IPC4D Image Enhancement Technology (IPC)TM delivers unparalleled image quality while maintaining its high throughput to provide the following features:
automatic seperation- accurately scans your black and white text, and greyscale or halftone photos in a single pass, saving you valuable time;
dynamic thresholding- by automatically adjusting contrast levels, dynamic thresholding increases the accuracy of low-contrast documents that contain handwritten or typed characters with varying line thickness;
noise removal- removes particles on copied or faxed documents for better optical character recognition (OCR) read rates;
subwindows- allows you to zero in and scan key areas of document and store only that information, thus saving you valuable storage space;
smoothing- reduces the extremes of a line art image for a cleaner, more readable image;
ball point pen mode - compensates for varying reflective light characteristics of ink
Infrared document double-feed detection
Prevent lost images due to document double feeds and ensures document batch integrity with the infrared detection feature.
Long document scanning
The fi-4640S has 16MB memory standard to allow for long document scanning of up to 68" in length. (Up to 400dpi, monochrome)
Automatic length detection
The fi-4640S automatically detects the end of a document as it passes through the paper path. Perfect for eliminating the extra white space when scanning mixed length batches of documents.
Imprinter option
The fi-4640S scanner can be upgraded with a post scan, backside imprinter option. The imprinter can print 40 alphanumeric characters and includes one ink cartridge.
